Arson Attack on Leeds Travellers Centre
Investigation into an Alleged Hate-Crime on a Gypsy and Traveller Support Centre is Continuing.
POLICE are investigating a suspected arson attack at the Leeds Gypsy and Traveller Exchange centre.

Alarms went off at 3.35am on Wednesday when reports of two separate fires were spotted at the Leeds GATE premises at Crown Point House, Cross Green Lane.

The Government funded centre offers advice, education, support and also has a cafe for people from the travelling community, living in the Leeds area.

Helen Jones, chief executive of Leeds GATE, said she and staff were in shock at news of the incident.

There were no occupants in the building at the time which has also suffered internal smoke damage as a result of the fire.

Investigations by the police and fire service into the cause of the fire are ongoing at the present time and detectives would like to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity at the front of the building in the early hours of this morning.
